List Growth & Popups

Automotive · Performance suspension (DTC) · Alia + Klaviyo

More leads per impression without changing the offer, design, or logic

A side-by-side window showed Alia generating materially higher email and phone opt-ins per impression than a native form, while downstream flow revenue held steady when normalized for time.

01

Install the Alia script on your store

In Alia, go to Settings → Install and copy the script tag. In Shopify, navigate to Online Store → Themes → Edit Code → theme.liquid and paste the script just before the closing </head> tag. Save and verify the script loads by visiting your storefront.

Pro Tip: If you use a Shopify app like Alia's native integration, you can skip the manual script install — just connect your store via OAuth in the Alia dashboard.

02

Create your first popup in Alia

Go to Popups → Create New. Choose the 'Email Capture' template. Set the trigger to 'Exit Intent' for desktop and 'Time Delay (5 seconds)' for mobile. This captures visitors who are about to leave without being intrusive to active browsers.

03

Design the popup creative

Upload your brand logo, set your brand colors, and write a compelling headline. Focus on the value proposition — what the subscriber gets (e.g., '10% off your first order' or 'Exclusive early access to drops'). Keep copy to two lines maximum.

Pro Tip: Avoid generic 'Subscribe to our newsletter' language. Specificity converts — '15% off + free shipping on your first order' outperforms vague promises 3–4x.

04

Configure the Klaviyo integration

In Alia, go to Integrations → Klaviyo. Enter your Klaviyo private API key (found in Klaviyo under Account → Settings → API Keys). Map the email field and select or create a Klaviyo list — we recommend a dedicated 'Alia Popup Signups' list for clean attribution.

05

Set display rules and frequency caps

Under Display Rules, exclude visitors who are already subscribed (Alia can check against your Klaviyo list). Set the frequency cap to once per session with a 3-day cooldown after dismissal. Exclude checkout and cart pages to avoid interrupting buyers.

06

Set up the Welcome Flow trigger in Klaviyo

In Klaviyo, create a new Flow triggered by 'Added to List' → select your 'Alia Popup Signups' list. Build a 3–5 email welcome series: Email 1 delivers the incentive immediately, Email 2 tells your brand story (day 2), Email 3 showcases bestsellers (day 4).

Pro Tip: Add a conditional split in your flow to check if the subscriber has placed an order. If they converted after Email 1, skip the remaining incentive emails and move them into your post-purchase flow instead.

07

Test end-to-end before going live

Open your store in an incognito window, trigger the popup, submit a test email, and verify it appears in your Klaviyo list and triggers the welcome flow. Check the email renders correctly on desktop and mobile. Delete the test profile when done.

08

Launch and monitor for 48 hours

Publish the popup in Alia. Over the first 48 hours, check your conversion rate (should be 3–8% of visitors who see it), submission count, and Klaviyo list growth. If conversion rate is under 2%, revisit your offer or trigger timing.
